A GLIMPSE INTO
ELI'S LIFE

1996, May 24,

Date of birth

Eli Kay is born to parents Devorah and Avi Kay and older brother Kasriel in Johannesburg, South Africa.

2013

Grade 11 Trip

Eli goes on a trip called Encounter which brings him to Israel and cultivates his love for the country.

2014

Graduation 

Eli graduates high school with exceptional marks and decides to pursue his passion for travel and new experiences.

2015

Yeshiva

Eli goes to Yeshiva Gedolah (YG) in Melbourne, Australia for his first year of yeshiva.

2016

Yeshiva

Eli moves to Tomchei Temimim, a highly academic yeshiva in Kiryat Gat, Israel, where he spends his days immersed in Torah learning and the study of Chassidut Chabad.

2017

IDF

Eli is drafted to the IDF and moves to Beerot Yitzchak, a kibbutz for lone soldiers, where he meets many other young people from all over the world who share his love for Israel and dedication to serving in the military.

2017

IDF

Eli completes his basic training and becomes a tzanchan, a paratrooper, in the Chetz battalion of the Israeli army.

2018

IDF

Eli is promoted to commander and moves to Jerusalem, where he leads his soldiers through rigorous training and combat exercises.

2019

Agriculture 

Eli completes his service in the IDF and moves to Kibbutz Nirim in the south of Israel to work for Hashomer Hachadash, an agricultural organization that helps to protect farmers and their land from theft and vandalism. He quickly rises to the position of project manager and takes groups of young people to farms to help the local farmers with their work.

2020

Tour Guide

Eli begins studying for a tour guiding course to share the beauty and history of Israel with visitors from all over the world.

2021

The Old City

Eli moves back to Jerusalem and starts working at the Kotel in the Old City as a guide. He greets visitors from all over and explains the history and significance of the holy site.

2021, Nov 21st

Eli's passing 

Tragically, Eli is murdered by a Hamas terrorist on Shalshelet Street in Jerusalem, only steps from the Kotel. The news of his passing spreads quickly, and people from all over the world express their condolences and share stories about how Eli touched their lives.

Since his passing - The Eli Kay Project is created to honor his memory and continue his mission of spreading light and inspiring others. The project raises funds for various causes, including educational initiatives, community projects,
